OUR ROOTS

It Started With a Father’s Journey

AbokiBee was inspired by a childhood tradition.

Growing up in Lagos, Blessing Ndon eagerly awaited her father’s return from business trips to Abuja. Each time he came home, he brought kilishi, spicy Nigerian beef jerky made by Hausa traders known as Aboki, meaning friend.

That simple ritual became something more. Kilishi was not just a snack. It was a symbol of love, travel, and connection to home.

THE NAME

What AbokiBee Means

The name AbokiBee comes from two places.

Aboki means friend in Hausa, a word tied to generosity, trade, and community. Bee is short for Blessing, the heart behind the brand.

Together, AbokiBee represents sharing something meaningful and bringing people together through food.

THE SPARK

From Memory to Mission

As Blessing grew older and moved away from home, the memory of that flavor stayed with her.

In 2022, a return trip to Abuja came with a request from friends and family to bring back real kilishi so they could taste home again. That journey reignited a mission to recreate authentic Northern Nigerian kilishi with care and intention.

What began as a personal effort quickly grew into something bigger.

HOW WE MAKE IT

Authentic Flavor Done Properly

AbokiBee kilishi is handcrafted in small batches using premium cuts of beef and authentic suya spices sourced from Nigeria.

We follow traditional methods, slow cooking and air drying each batch to develop bold flavor and balanced heat. Our jerky contains no artificial additives and no shortcuts.

Just honest ingredients and careful preparation.

THE DIFFERENCE

More Than Beef Jerky

Kilishi is different from traditional jerky.

It is lighter, crispier, and layered with spice rather than sugar. The flavor builds gradually, creating depth instead of overpowering heat.

AbokiBee is about respecting tradition while offering a refined, modern take on a beloved staple.

OUR PROMISE

From the Motherland to Your Tastebuds

Every bag of AbokiBee is rooted in tradition and made to be shared.

Our goal is to bring the true taste of Nigerian kilishi to a global audience while honoring where it comes from and how it is made.
